The United Arab Emirates has been observing a period of mourning following the recent passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, a distinguished figure in the nation known for his significant contributions to various sectors. Sheikh Ahmed, who passed away on Monday, was honored with a funeral service at Zabeel Grand Mosque, after which he was laid to rest at Umm Hurair Cemetery in Dubai. His impact extended beyond governance into sports, where he was instrumental in the establishment of the Jebel Ali Racecourse in 1990 and served as the president of Al Wasl Sports Club, reflecting his diverse contributions to the UAE’s development.
In honor of Sheikh Ahmed’s legacy and contributions, a 10-day mourning period was declared in Dubai. The period serves as a testament to his enduring influence and the deep respect he garnered throughout his lifetime.
