Dubai is set to witness a transformative phase of growth as Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum unveils an ambitious portfolio of projects worth Dh2.1 trillion. These investments span across real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading global business and investment hub. Speaking at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the emirate’s commitment to long-term planning and infrastructure development.
Real estate emerges as a focal point of this development strategy, with Dh1.1 trillion dedicated to projects aimed at accommodating Dubai’s burgeoning population. This includes the construction of approximately 350,000 residential units by 2030, further supporting housing demand in the region.
The aviation sector is poised for significant enhancements, with Al Maktoum International Airport receiving an investment of Dh128 billion to expand its capacity to 260 million passengers annually. In addition, Dh328 billion is earmarked for the expansion of the Emirates and flydubai fleets, alongside Dh18.7 billion for a new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex.
Infrastructure upgrades are also integral to the plan, with a budget of Dh100 billion allocated for road improvements and the extension of the Dubai Metro’s Blue and Gold lines. The city’s electricity and water networks will see an expansion worth Dh151 billion, while the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system will benefit from an investment of Dh80 billion.
Moreover, the financial services sector is set to receive a boost with a Dh100 billion investment in the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre. This initiative aims to strengthen Dubai’s international business infrastructure and enhance its financial services capabilities.
Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of anticipating future demand through strategic investments, ensuring that Dubai remains at the forefront of global economic diversification and international investment attraction. This extensive project pipeline underscores the emirate’s dedication to expanding housing, transport connectivity, and essential services as part of its broader economic development strategy.
